Paws On The New Exploding Kittens App

“Exploding Kittens” is a “kitty-powered
version of Russian Roulette.” Based on the popular card game, players take turns drawing
cards until someone pulls an exploding kitten and loses the game. Of course, there’s more
to it than that – players can also use various cards to defuse the kitten (with belly rubs
or catnip sandwiches, ect) or skip their turns, attack other players, relocate kittens and
more. The app version of “Exploding Kittens”
is a bit different from the original card game. It has pulled some cards and added others,
introduced new game mechanics, and new art from The Oatmeal creator Matthew Inman, as
well as sounds and voices. What’s interesting or annoying depending
on who you talk to is that you can’t play by yourself. You can’t play strangers over
the internet. Instead, Exploding Kittens is a multiplayer game you play with people who
are actually sitting near the same place. The game uses a combination
of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to allow players to communicate with those around them. The creators
warn that this technology is new and may have some kinks to work out. The $1.99 game soared to the top of the App
Store, reaching #1 paid app within a day. However, a few days after its release, the
game now suffers from a below average rating, likely due to its glaring lack of online multiplayer.
So if you can get over the fact the paid app is actually just a card game that is meant
to be played in person with friends, it’s weird but fun and definitely worth a try.
