Google unveils Pixel a new flagship phone

Google took to the stage at today’s Pixel
event to unveil what it call its largest hardware reveal in years, the Google-designed Pixel. The base-level Pixel looks like the leaks
suggested. It’s fairly featureless on its face. It’s visually similar to an iPhone, only
devoid of a physical button in that large stretch of bezel beneath the display. The rear of the device is a combination of
glass and metal with a fingerprint reader smack dab in the center, along with an antenna
band along and Google’s new “G” logo along the bottom. As noted by the company at the event, there’s
“no unsightly camera bump”. The hardware features a 12-megapixel rear
camera. The Pixel received an impressive 89 from DXOMark
making it the best smartphone camera ever made. Google’s new flagship is powered by a quadcore
Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB of RAM and a decently sized 2770 milliamp Hour battery,
which can quick charge up to seven hours in 15 minutes. The Pixel ships with 32GB of storage standard,
which users can chose to quadruple up to 128GB. There’s a USB-C port on the bottom of the
device, and yes, the thing has a headphone jack. While the event is positioned as hardware
first, the real focus is software. As the company puts it, “we’re building
hardware with the Google Assistant at its core.” The company led the event with talk about
its forthcoming Google Assistant AI. The new assistant performed impressively during
the demo. The Pixel will be the first handset to ship
with the friendly voice helper. Those who pick up the Pixel will also get
their hands on free unlimited storage on Google Photos shot at their original resolution. The phone will also, ship with Google’s
new messaging app Duo built it and was made for mobile virtual reality. You can pre-order the new Google Pixel starting
today. It’s available in 3 colors: white, silver,
and a limited edition blue. The phone is exclusive to Verizon in the US
and is can be purchased unlocked on the Google store. Pricing starts at $649 or $27/month.

  1. The phones look exceptionally similar to iPhone; but appears to have higher specs, in combination with all the features google offers, something Apple cannot currently compete with…and it is ironic but as the leading search provider and big data specialist google in the position to develop practically any product.
