Goodbye Europe, Article 13 Youtube Ban, Serial Swatter GUILTY, Fox News Backs CNN, & More…

Sup, you beautiful bastards. Hope you’re having a fantastic Wednesday. Welcome back to the Phillip DeFranco Show and let’s just jump into it. The first thing we need to talk about today is Article 13. AKA the reason why those of you watching in Europe right now might in the very near future not be able to watch me among many other things. Now over the last month, youtube has been ramping up its opposition to the proposed Article 13 of the EUCD – the European Union Copyright Directive. We have also talked about this in the past and I’ll link down below to that previous coverage. But the oversimplified version is that Article 13, which is sometimes referred to as the upload filter would make platforms that host user-uploaded content liable for copyright infringement by its users. And what we saw on Monday is that YouTube posted an op-ed from their CEO titled the Potential Unintended Consequences of Article 13. And in the post she said that creator economy is under threat from Article 13. And while YouTube supports the goal this specific proposal in its current form could have negative effects on creators and viewers. She also provides an example of that of the video for Despacito which is the most viewed video on YouTube. Writing this video contains multiple copyrights ranging from sound recording to publishing rights. Although YouTube has agreements with multiple entities to license and pay for the video, some of the rights holders remain unknown. That uncertainty means we might have to block videos like this to avoid liability under Article 13. Multiply that risk with the scale of YouTube, where more than 400 hours of video are uploaded every minute and the potential liabilities could be so large that no company could take on such a financial risk. And so there lies the primary issue with Article 13. When the content is uploaded unless they know for sure who owns every single part of it, it wouldn’t make sense for YouTube to allow for it to go up. And Susan pointed out they’ve already been working on things that deal with copy right strikes. Things like the content ID programme. A programme that she says has already paid out more than 2.5 billion Euros to copyright holders. And then let’s talk about a major development in a horrific swatting case that happened last year. And for those who aren’t familiar with that term, swatting is the practice of making a hoax phone call to police This in an attempt to get police or a swat team to show up to a particular location. Unfortunately we’ve covered several instances of these in the past.

  1. Thoughts on Article 13 and the potential YT impact if you’re a viewer in the EU? Sad that you might not be able to see my face for much longer… </3
    Article 13 (00:06), TIA (4:55), FOX News/CNN/Acosta (7:20), Swatter (9:05)

  2. If we don't act now Article 13 could shut down youtube, facebook,
twitter, pinterest, blogger, reddit, tumblr, linkedin and many many more
could be shut down. These websites will have no choice but to close for
fear of getting sued or worse they will only allow big corporations to
use them. Taking the internet away from the common voting man and woman.
Use this link and tweet to all the UE officials who will vote on this
and tell them not to vote. Power to the masses, lets fight back and save
    our beloved internet.
    @t

  3. What happened to YouTube? 😞
    No more Pewdiepie
    No more Dantdm
    No more Gordon Ramsay
    And what else?! 😕
YouTube is wear I search some of my projects in class!!

Who can relate to me about Article 13?
    Like this if you agree

  4. Artical 13 solution
No need to off the channel
You  tube should creat update that the video will not uplode where copy right image or song use….

  5. "YouTube's Content ID system detects copyrighted materials by matching its users' uploaded videos with audio tracks that copyright holders can upload via the platform's content verification program portal" On the contrary mass evidence shows that YouTube has used Content ID for a decade and yet remains a successful host for content of all kinds. Content (audio and video) which is copied, reused, resampled, plagiarised or even leaked. Further Youtube is hosting content which is malicious, violent, racist and xenophobic in nature. Video-clips of women being shamed in public, recorded by misogynists (with millions of views) is not considered a violation nor problem. Instead it just adds to more ad-revenues for Youtube and Google. #SaveYourInternet rather be renamed as #SaveYoutube.

  6. they are cutting out the wings of internet, and noone can do much about that… internet was made for connection and free condivision… now it become a buisness for big industries… the only solution wich i see is to download Tor again and then they may suck my sock, cause then i may connect from asia even if im in UE…

  7. Sadly this is the EU’s fault they messed up and sorry YT space will not let millions lose their jobs so kicking EU’s ass off YouTube to fix this I’m not sympathetic

  8. its a shame your sponsor today is all about security but apparently doesnt know how to work with prepaid cards. because honestly adding my bank account to another website like this is very meh.

  9. 2:19? How the F are you supposed to do that? Send pictures with your hand on it every freaking item you own like they do for Art on the Amino app?? Talk about a violation of privacy!
"Oh, look at that lamp over there. Prove that lamp is yours or else your video will be blocked!"
"How much more do I have to prove!"
"EVERY. SINGLE. ITEM. Including that tiny scrap of potato chip on your carpet."
"BUT THAT'S A STUPID PIECE OF POTATO CHIP THAT'S GOING TO BE SUCKED UP BY THE VACUUM IN A FEW DAYS!"
"Okay, I guess we're gonna block your video…"
"Ugh, fine! Hang on!" *Takes pic* "Okay, this is the last item in the video. I sent you all five hundred items in the background. Happy?"
"Yes. Your video is not blocked anymore. Enjoy. :)"

  10. This is truly terrifying…but you know what..? Take our memes, take our freedom of speech, take our flippin' internet…people laugh at our generation, and put our generation down…sometimes for good reason, BUT, do this, and see what happens. We're a generation of biscuit hurt over everything, complaining, internet addicted, people…but we have our positives too. When things we love are threatened, when our rights are threatened, we stand together, and we STAND UP. You can take all you want, and then watch us take it back, if you're even able to take it to begin with. Our generation is the future. If this DOES happen, give it a couple years and we will rejoice in our memes once again. But seriously, this goes wayyy beyond memes. There's a much broader picture here. We won't allow for this.

  11. Get over it, people are sick of having their material stolen, why should they allow it ? Make original content and you'll have nothing to fear.

  12. Next incoming articles-

    – Prove you own the computer and other hardware you created the video with

    – Make sure you legally own all the software used.

    – If you use human speech, be ready to prove the voice belongs to you.

  13. The EU website uses/links to lots of services that will be affected! They (the EU website) also have their website linked on accounts on those sites. Will they get money from that in future via the "link tax"?

  14. Oh my… Depression will end up killing me If i dont have Memes/internet freedom im not kidding the only reason i havent slit My throat yet is because i could find happiness in the internet and memes

  15. If this law goes in, my mental state is going to be bad. I know it's silly but I listen to ASMR when I sleep and if they block everything then I can't watch shit on YouTube at all. People need to realise that one if the reasons why we, the UK, wanted to leave was because the EU feels like a dictatorship. We have people running the 23 countries that aren't even from those countries and making up laws that aren't even voted in by the people

  16. Now I really hope Article 13 won't go into effect in the UK because that is where I am gonna move too since my country, Austria, is in the EU. That is the first time were it bothered me to be in the EU….

  17. Will they actually delete ur videos or ban you from youtube or they'll just allow your videos with music e.t.c. be available only for people that don't live in Europe?

  18. GUYS THIS IS ONLY FOR THE EU IF YOUR NOT IN THE EU YOUR LUCKY (forgot to mention the Uk) but if your not is the Eu or the Uk your safe!

  19. So within Europe anyway, the death of “let’s play” “reactions” “music covers” videos? Maybe leading to corporations and content holders only allowing people to host their content if the review agrees with them?

  20. I remember when Europeans made fun of us because of our net neutrality. Jesus though, this is 10x worse. For all Europeans, I wish you luck with this. Never give up and dont let the government take away the things you guys love

  21. Bye Europe people, it was good knowing you, but you probably won't be able to talk to many people from the US because you'll be blocked for a ton of videos

  23. Actually the main thing is that Youtube is not the Internet, so let's talk more extensively: "TV, PC and Phones" the main problem. So if they are removed, the next generations become smarter. You know, 5% of them on Youtube. These tools are officially a "fruit knife" for me, because if you use it well, you are doing useful things; Just like cutting fruits, abuse them, bad things like hurting them. Youtube is just one of the dangerous fish in the ocean. @

  24. Well if this goes through then just watch. The suicide rate increase.
Cuz what’s the point of life if something we love and have passion for we won’t be able to have.
    Fanedits
    Fan art work
    Fanfics etc
Like me I have no friends, No money and the only thing that makes me want to wake up is making edits of my fav shows ect and watching YouTubers that make me happy because without it I would of been dead years ago.
(I know that sounds stupid but I was being bullied so much and the only thing that kept me going and not kms was me making fan edits & artwork etc and watching people online that make me happy so if it’s taken away I will have nothing and I think others will feel the same two)

  25. I think YouTube should start charging EU for streaming their contents on EU soil… If they refused then just stop the YouTube out going to EU completely and see the ppl started to rise and riot in the entire EU. Sometimes, its good to watch the world burn then rebuild it again.

  26. This needs to stop,

Just imagine a life without entertainment, Nobody would be happy, Nor Entertained. Youtube's chief worked five years, and if this happens he might lose his job and get less money and might half to work somewhere else, Aritcle 13 is saying copyrighted videos, meme band?, If Article 13 Wins there will be mo more Editing Softwares, No more YouTube, Youtubers, No Instagram, No Snapchat, Facebook,Twitter, Others. They will be gone. Let's hope this passes, Are you with me? #savetheinternet Save your internet! #stoparticle13

  27. Stop!! spreading wrong views about article 13 https://www.ukmusic.org/policy/article-13-mythbuster?utm_source=tw&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=help

  28. Swat teams take lives more than they save lives. Maybe decommissioning these 'roided-out trigger-happy former high school jocks' is more along the lines of the real answer.

  29. >be me
    >lives in athens
    >likes spicy DaNk memes
    >posts a funny meme on instagram
    >3 days later im sleeping nice and sound
    >wakes up to the sound of a huge bang
    >3 seconds later im in handcuffs and under arrest for illegal meme posting which is a direct violation of arricle 13
    >be on trial
    >found guilty
    >be sent to prison
    >sit next to fellow prisoner who asks "why are you here anon?"
    >i answer "illegal meme posting"
    >he gets so upset he starts a riot and all of the prisoners(including me) escape
    >mfw memes got me out of prison

  30. a open and free press should also include Youtubers
that want to be open and diplomatic with their viewers about what is the latest tech gadget they spotted, or the newest book
or having a open discussion about movies they like as geeks

the mainstream media shouldn't have all the fun

  31. Im in indiana but im crying because they are deleteing memes…. * starts crying * JUST STOP WITH ARTICLE 13 AND BEAT IT!
